Mumbai – A tribute in Watercolour

Mumbai: A Tribute in Watercolour. Bathed in the soft golden hues of dawn, this watercolour captures the soulful rhythm of Mumbai as it awakens. The iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, resplendent in its timeless grandeur, stands as a silent sentinel by the sea — a symbol of resilience, elegance, and history. Behind it, the city unfurls in layers of warmth and energy, where heritage architecture meets the shimmering silhouettes of modern skyscrapers, blending past and present in perfect harmony. The lavender mist of early morning merges into a burst of vibrant skies, capturing that fleeting, magical moment before the bustle begins. A poetic pause in an otherwise relentless metropolis. This painting is a love letter to the city of my birth— a city that will always have a piece of my heart!

    Sri Mariamman Temple

Sri Mariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, located in the heart of Chinatown. Its façade is a riot of colours, adorned with a stunning array of intricate sculptures depicting a pantheon of deities and mythological figures, each meticulously crafted to tell a story of devotion and culture. As you step through the grand entrance, you are welcomed by a kaleidoscope of hues. The ornate gopuram / tower, rises majestically above, drawing the eye upward in a reverent gaze. The air is thick with the fragrant aroma of jasmine and incense, mingling with the sounds of bells and soft chants that resonate in the sacred space. This painting is one of the set of 4 paintings of different places of worship in Singapore. These are an ode to the nation's diverse culture.

Emerald Hill – No 39 Terrace House

Emerald Hill is lined with heritage-rich Peranakan houses and establishments painted in delightful hues. This street sits quietly in the midst of the malls and traffic of Orchard Road as a carefully restored piece of the area’s past. The gorgeous house in this painting, terrace house 39, has whitewashed facades and a traditional Teochew gateway featuring emerald green, porcelain roof ornamentations. Abundant foliage adds to the charm of this home! FUN FACT - Emerald Hill used to be a nutmeg and fruit orchard, established by the acting Postmaster General William Cuppage in 1837, before being bought over by businessmen Seah Eng and Seah Boon Kang in 1900. From there, small pieces of the land were sold to new owners who went on to build the terrace houses and shophouses we still see today.
